Schumacher out of danger, says Streiff

Schumacher out of danger, says Streiff

According to Gerard Saillant, who had operated on the Michael Schumacher after his accident at Silverstone in 1999 and who rushed to the hospital in Grenoble, where Schumacher was hospitalized, Schumacher is out of danger.

This information was made public by Philippe Streiff, former Formula 1 driver and friend of Schumacher, who said that he is not a doctor and just carries what was said by Saillant:

I spoke with Gerard Saillant and he confirmed that they keep Michael in temperatures of 35-36C, so as to reduce the bodily functions and to enable the body to heal better. That is they have him still in a coma.

They operated on the hematoma already in the right hemisphere of the brain and they made a second surgery, less important, on the left hemisphere. It is a trauma similar to mine that has left me paraplegic ( Philippe Steiff is left crippled after a serious accident in 1989 when the roll-bar that was protecting him broke).

He is 45 years old and in great physical condition. For anyone else it would be different, but Schumacher will be able to recover to the point that he can have a normal life again.

Surely statements of Steiff contain many more than what was said by Gerard Saillant, many of which may be personal thoughts.

Sabine Kehm stated:

The status of Michael remains critical but stable. We would like to state clearly that any information regarding the health status of Michael, which does not come from me or the doctors, should be regarded as untrue or simply as a rumor. The family only cares about the health of Michael.

After discussion with the treating physicians of Michael, another press conference is not expected until Monday.
