BMW presented the plug-in hybrid version of the new X1, in China. The car will be available only for the Chinese market and later it will probably be availability in Europe and the US.

The hybrid version of the compact crossover is called X1 xDrive25Le iPerformance and it is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system that consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 136 hp with 220 Nm of torque, combined with an electric motor that delivers 94 hp with 165 Nm of torque.

The system is combined with a 6-speed transmission, with the total torque reaching 385 Nm. The car is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, while it can move up to 120 km/h using only its electric motor.

BMW announced that the consumption of the car reaches only 1.8 liters/100 km, with the electric range of the model being 60 km. The lithium-ion batteries of the SUV have a 10.7-kWh capacity and they take 3 to 4 hours for charging up to 80%, depending on the power output of the electrick socket.
