The Lotus Etna is a concept car designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, that never went in production. It was presented at the Birmingham Motorshow of 1984 and it was based in a modified version of the Lotus Esprit chassis, with the engine mounted in the center.

The Etna was equipped with a 4 liter V8 producing 335 hp and 400 Nm of torque. While engineers of Lotus were also working on a version of the car, that would feature active suspension, traction control, ABS and active noise cancelling.

The prototype was auctioned in 2001, by Coys. The Lotus Etna afterwards appeared at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2003. The car would have surely changed the history of the company if it ever came out, since its technology was way more advanced than many other supercars of the 80s.
