Volkswagen presented in New Delhi a slightly different version of the Taigun Concept, which debuted in the report of São Paulo, Brazil in 2012.
The updated prototype features a new rear where there is a spare tire. The car has a length of 3.859 mm, width of 1.728 mm, height of 1.570 mm and a 2.470 mm wheelbase. It stands on 17 inch alloy wheels with tires measuring 205/50. On the roof it features LED lights.
It can carry five adult passengers and offers 280 liters of luggage space, which can reach to 996 liters by folding the rear seats.
It is equipped with a 1 liter TSI direct injection engine producing 110 hp with 175 Nm of torque. The prototype weighs 998 kilos and completes the 0-100 km/h 9.2 seconds with a top speed of
186 km/h. It has an average consumption of 4.7 litres/100 km and with a 50 liter tank it has a range of up to 1,000 km.
The production version will be the new entry-level SUV that Volkswagen is preparing for the market and it is expected in 2016.
