The Maserati Levante will be more exclusive than an entry level Porsche Cayenne

Speaking to an Australian site, the importer of Maserati there, said that the upcoming Levante will be a prestige proposal and that it is not going to compete with the basic versions of the Porsche Cayenne.

The Maserati Levante will be more exclusive than an entry level Porsche Cayenne

The Levante will remain an exclusive vehicle. The bulk of Cayenne sales come from lower models that we won’t be competing with, and have no great desire to compete with.

This statement is susceptible to two interpretations. The one that this will only apply for the Australian market and the one that concerns the model itself, regardless of the market, meaning that it will be more expensive than the Cayenne in any case.

Regardless what the statement meant the Levante will go into production in 2015. The design of the model will be strongly influenced by the Ghibli and the Quattroporte, it has an aluminum chassis, electronics of Chrysler and it will be equipped with the usual 3 sets of engines: a twin-turbo three liter V6 with 410 hp and 500 Nm of torque, a twin- turbo V8 3.8 liter with 530 hp and 710Nm of torque and a three liter V6 turbodiesel with 275 hp and 600Nm of torque. All engines will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
