At the Chicago auto show, Kia along with the Trail’ster concept presented the Rio hatchback and sedan facelift for the North American market. Stylistically the cars have the same elements as their European versions.

The interior features dashboard air vents with chrome contours, while the audio system of the center console is refreshed, while the car also features the new generation of entertainment and navigation (AVN, audio-video navigation) that includes a 7 inch screen.
In the US the Rio is available in three trim levels (LX, EX and SX) and it is equipped with an atmospheric 1.6 liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 138 hp with 167 Nm of torque combined with an automatic six-speed transmission in the hatchback version and a six-speed manual gearbox in the sedan version.
