This year’s auction of RM Sotheby’s will be held at Villa Erba, where a very rare Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione 1960, will be going under the hammer.

The auction will take place on May 23 and this car is the 20th from the 164 built, and is one of the 45 with chassis number 1953 GT, which had a fully aluminum body for less weight. The car was equipped with a V12 engine producing 280 hp.
Unlike many other 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competiziones, the 1953 GT was not manufactured for racing. The first owner of the car was Cesare Marchi, a doctor of Florence, who drove the car normally, then the car was sold to its second owner from California.
The Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione after many years, got fully restored in early 1990 and was passed to a Japanese collector, who has owned it for 10 years. The present owner acquired it in 2011 and since then, the car has made appearances at Silverstone Classic, Goodwood, the Goodwood Revival and the historical festival of Donington.
