Two years later, in 2018, the group will present a system that will allow cars that equips to change lanes. By the end of the decade, this system will also acquire the ability to turn at intersections without the driver’s intervention, so that the car can move autonomously in almost all conditions, including driving in town.

Fully autonomous vehicles that can operate without a driver inside, are expected on the market in at least a decade from now. Ghosn said that although the technology will exist earlier, a number of regulatory, legal and security issues must first be resolved, for the technology to be applied on mass production cars.
