It seems, that the Bloodhound SSC has a competitor that comes from Australia and is called Aussie Invader 5R, the vehicle with which Rosco McGlashan wants to reach 1,600 km/h in 2016.

To do this, the team that is preparing the car faces the same challenges as those of the Bloodhound’s team. To overcome these challenges, their team consists of experts of aerodynamics, engineers and other scientists that will help to design and build the vehicle that will cost about $4 million.

Australia already has the record of speed in water, since Ken Warby reached 511.12 km/h with the Spirit of Australia in 1977.
