Since it was already decided that Pirelli will be the exclusive tire supplier for Formula 1, it was just a matter of days to publicize the conditions of the agreement between the Italian tire company and the FIA. So, according to FIA , Pirelli will supply all the Formula 1 teams over the next three years , starting from the league in 2014.
For Pirelli to avoid changes in the composition of the tire, in the middle of the championship, FIA forced the teams into 2 compulsory tire development tests. One of the 12 days of testing before the start of the championship, will be exclusively dedicated to testing with wet tires. FIA requires teams to choose one of the 8 days they have for tests within the year, to try Pirelli’s tires with the help of engineers .
The teams should indicate to Pirelli the date that they want to make the testing of the tires and Pirelli will decide whether or not to proceed taking in consideration if it has already booked the day with another team (max 2). The selection priority of each team will be based on its position in the last year’s championship.
