According to Ferrari, the F12 tdf has significant mechanical and aerodynamic improvements over the F12 Berlinetta. It is equipped with a 6.3 liter V12 engine which produces 780 hp at 8,500 rpm and 705 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. The power passes to the rear wheels through a new F1 DCT automatic transmission which features a 6% shorter scale that offers 30% faster changes.

The F12 tdf is able to do the 0-100 km/h to 2.9 seconds, the 0-200 km/h to 7.9 seconds and it has a top speed of 340 km/hour, while at the track of Fiorano, it has managed to make a time of 1:21.

It stands on 20 inch rims, with front tires sized 275/35 and the rear ones measuring 315/35. In the field of aerodynamics, the F12 tdf has almost 87% better aerodynamics than the F12 Berlinetta. At 200 km/h, it generates a downforce of 230 kg, 107 kg more than the F12. It has a new rear diffuser, a new spoiler which is 60 mm longer and 30 mm higher than that of the F12, new bumpers, air intakes on the fenders and a new design for the trunk.

The F12 tdf weighs 110 kilos less than the F12, thanks to extensive use of carbon and a radical redesign of the body, interior, engine and transmission. Its brakes derive from the LaFerrari, while its interior features decorative carbon, Alcantara and aluminum pedals.
