Nissan presented the new Murano, which essentially created the CUV (crossover utility vehicle), the Murano’s design shows us the design philosophy of the future models of Nissan. The design borrows several elements from the TeRRA prototype we saw in the Paris exhibition in September 2012 and the Resonance Concept that we saw initially in the Detroit in early 2013 and then at the Geneva Motor Show.
Thus, we see a very beautiful and bold shape, the mask has the characteristic V-Motion, type boomerang headlights and a flowing roof. On the back we find LED lights and very sharp edges trying to ” hide ” behind the pillar, while independently from the version, the car can be equipped with a panoramic sunroof, LED lights and 20 inch alloy wheels. The aerodynamic coefficient is Cd 0,31 with the company states that the visibility has improved significantly compared with the previous model.
The model extends the crossover and SUV model range and it features a spacious, safe and luxurious interior with advanced technology. Built on the platform used by the Altima and Pathfinder, it maintains the same dimensions as the current generation of the Murano and it is the ninth model to be built at Nissan ‘s plant in Mississippi.
It is equipped with the same 3.5 liter V6 engine that we can find on the previous generation, producing 260 hp and 325 Nm of torque. Combined with the CVT Xtronic transmission, which transfers the power to the front wheels, while four-wheel drive is included in the extra equipment. Nissan says that the new Murano is 20 % more economical because of weight reduction, improved aerodynamics and a more efficient engine. The interior is also completely new and resembles that of the X-Trail, just in a larger format. It has a modern design and has very good quality of materials. It features the “Zero Gravity” seats, which are heated and cooled, dual-zone air conditioning, 7 inch multi-function display and a start button.The sales will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
