Daihatsu in November 2013 had shown prototypes of the Kopen at the Tokyo auto show and several months later, presents officially the new Copen. The production version, will be modifiable externally according to what the owner chooses to change (except the roof and doors).
Its length is 3.395 mm, width 1.475 mm, height 1.280 mm and it is made on a lightweight monocoque D-frame chassis, which is three times more powerfull in comparison with that of the previous generation. It weighs 40 kilos more than its predecessor and is mechanically available with a 660 ml naturally aspirated 12-valve three-cylinder 64 hp engine with 92 Nm of torque combined to a five speed manual or a CVT transmission, which sends the power to the front wheels.
The interior features a leather steering wheel and gear knob, heated seats, keyless entry, start engine button, air conditioning, heated windscreen, infotainment systems and carbon decorations. Sales will begin in 2015 with a starting price of 1.798.200 yen with the CVT transmission and 1.819.800 yen with the manual transmission.
