The Lotus Elan Plus 2 of Graham Hill is heading to auction

Graham Hill has won two world championships, one with BRM and one with a Lotus and up until Ayrton Senna started winning races, he was for two decades the racing driver most with the most wins at the Monaco Grand Prix, having 5 wins.

He raced in F1 for 18 consecutive seasons, several of these years he was racing with Lotus. He was killed in 1975 in a plane crash while flying a Piper Aztec. He had also won the 500 miles of Indianapolis in 1966, the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1972 and the Grand Prix of Monaco in 1963, 1964, 1965, 1968  and 1969.

The Elan that you see in the main picture was a gift to Graham Hill, from Colin Chapman, for winning the championship in 1968. Although it was originally silver, in 1976, when it was bought by the current owner, it was painted in a yellow color. Although the car has traveled many kilometers and it is not in a great condition, it would be a very good base for a restoration project.

The car will be auctioned on November 26 and it is expected to reach a price over £73,000, since it belonged to  legend of motorsport.
