Mercedes-AMG are preparing a new concept car, that will be presented in 2017 and it will show us how the new four-door model of the company, will look like. The model will go on sale in 2019 and it will be following in the footsteps of the SLS AMG GT, being equipped with the 4.0-liter V8 engine of the E63 AMG, which will be offered in two versions.

It will be the competitor of the Porsche Panamera and it is codenamed X290. It will be based on a different platform from that used by the AMG GT, which will probably be the MRA platform, used by the C63, S63 and E63. This platform makes use of lightweight materials such as aluminum and high strength steel, in order to keep the overall weight as low as possible.
The power of the car will be transferred to all four wheels, but it will also have a drift mode, like that of the new E63. Finally it will also have a small electric motor producing 20 hp, mounted on the gearbox, in order to provide a slight increase in horsepower for a short time.
