Porsche gave the first promo/teaser video of the new Macan which will debut in the report of Los Angeles. Production will begin in December at the Porsche plant in Leipzig with the small Cayenne based on the platform of the Audi Q5, featuring new suspension and different engines . It has a sports and luxury design , while regarding the interior it adopts the internal details of the 911 and the Panamera.
Due to the extensive use of aluminum , it weighs about 130 kilos less than the Q5. Porsche’s goal is to sell more than 75.000 Macan. As for the engines , the Macan is the first model of Porsche, which will be available with a four-cylinder engine after the 968 which was canceled in 1995. It will be equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo producing 395 hp and 550 Nm of torque. Apart from the V6 the four-cylinder 2.0- liter TSI of 220 hp will be in range , the V6 3.0- liter TSI 304 hp , while in terms of diesel the 2.0- liter TDI 200 hp , the 3.0-liter V6 250 and 310 hp will be available .
In America it will initially be available with the 3.0 – liter V6 engine and the 3.6 -liter V6 in the version Macan Turbo. The first will start in America from $ 52,000 and the second of $ 75,000 with the engines being combined with the seven-speed automatic PDK gearbox.
As for the hybrid version it will be equipped with the 2.0 – liter TSI of 211 hp which will be combined with an electric motor of 40 kW (55 hp ) bringing the total horsepower to 250 hp with 480 Nm of torque.
Regardless the engines, the power will be sent to all four wheels via either a seven speed manual gearbox or through a seven speed dual clutch automatic PDK gearbox.
The car will be the fifth model of the company and will play an important role in the strategy to 2018 . Will come face to face with the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes GLK and Range Rover Evoque. Sales will start in early 2014 with an initial price of £ 36.000 (€ 42.000) in England.
