BMW presented the safety car for the new season of MotoGP, which is a M4 Coupe. The car compared to the previous year has a new liquid-cooled system with water injection, which according to the engineers of the M division not only increases the horsepower, but also reduces the consumption of the car.

The required water is stored in a tank of 5 liters, which is insulated and it is located in the luggage compartment of the M4 with the water pump, sensors and valves controlled by the electronic engine. The pump delivers the water to the injector at 10 bar pressure, while the volume of water supplied depends on the load, engine speed and temperature, in order to provide optimum water consumption.

BMW says that the water tank must be refilled before any action on the track, while in normal driving conditions on public roads it is estimated that it needs to be replenished once every five stops of refueling. Finally, the company says that the aforementioned system will soon be available at the production model.
