Ford presented the S-MAX, before it makes its debut at the Paris auto show in early October. The seven-seater MPV has the new design identity, we saw on the revamped Focus and the Fiesta, with the mask resembling the cars of Aston Martin.
The car has many practical solutions that we see for the first time, like power folding seats in the second and third rows. It is also equipped with the hands-free opening of the trunk, new curtain airbags, electrically adjustable steering column and a heated/cooled front seats.
There is no information on the engines, but the new S-MAX is almost certain that it will be offered with the two-liter TDCI diesel engine producing 120 hp, combined with a six-speed manual transmission. The more powerful versions of the same engine will deliver 150 hp and 180 hp and they will be combined with either a manual gearbox or an automatic dual-clutch.
It may as well be available with a 1.5 liter EcoBoost with 160 hp and a 2 liter EcoBoost with 240 hp. Sales will begin in the summer of 2015, with the price expected to start from € 30.000.
