Hyundai IONIQ

Hyundai will present for the first time a model which will be available as an electric, a hybrid or as a plug-in hybrid. The car will be called Hyundai IONIQ and it will be presented in January of 2016 in Korea and later at the Geneva auto show.

Hyundai IONIQ

The name derives from the word “ion”, i.e. an atom which carries electrical charge. The IONIQ is based on a brand new platform specifically designed for it, which has the ability to be equipped with three different powertrains. A purely electric one, in which a high-capacity and ultra-efficient battery can power an electric motor, a hybrid, which can be equipped with a petrol engine and a plug-in hybrid.

Bear in mind that the name “ioniq” was used by Hyundai in 2012, in the homonymous concept, but now it will be used for the production model.
