The new Roadster will be available in two editions, AMG GT and AMG GT C with the last one borrowing some features from the sporty AMG GT R. Both cars are equipped with a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine which in the GT version, delivers 467 hp and 630 Nm of torque and enables the car to do the 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds and to have a top speed of 306 km/h.

The GT C version delivers 557 hp and 680 Nm of torque (an increase of 47 hp and 30 Nm of torque, in comparison with the GT S Coupe), while it takes only 3.7 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill, with its top speed reaches 316 km/h.

Its engine is combined with a 7-speed dual clutch Speedshift automatic transmission. It borrows from the AMG GT R, the electronically controlled limited slip differential on the rear axle, with a variable steering ratio according to the car’s speed. It even has a wheel steer system, with the rear wheels turning in the opposite direction of the front wheels, to improve handling and stability.

Mercedes-AMG GT C RoadsterMercedes announced that the roof comes with three layers of fabric, which are supported by a lightweight structure combining magnesium, steel and aluminum. The roof is available in three colors (beige, black and red), it takes 11 seconds to fold and it can operate up to speeds of 50 km/h. Both versions will have the active air management system from the AMG GT R, with the vertical slats remaining closed at low speeds to reduce traction and they open, during faster driving, to produce direct airflow.

The weight of the GT is 1,595 kilos, while the GT C weighs 1,660 kg. Finally, the vertical mask of the AMG GT R that has passed on the Roadster is expected to be placed in the Coupe sometime in 2017, with the price of the car, to be announced in 2017.
