In the 1980s, Audi introduced the all-wheel drive in the world of rally, with the Audi quattro, which became a registered trademark and the beginning of all the four-wheel drive cars of the company. Of course, the story began earlier when the engineering team of Dr. Ferdinand Piech was trying to build a four-wheel-drive system for sports cars.

Nigel Mansell's Audi quattro is up for sale

Back in 1984 Nigel Mansell, the driver of Formula 1 for Lotus, bought an Audi quattro. That specific car has changed five owners, through the years, having traveled a total of 186,684 km. Although the papers accompanying it indicate some kind of theft of some of its parts in 1995, some years later, it was completely restored. Moreover, the interior and the exterior, as shown in the pictures, in spite of being 32 years old, are in excellent condition.

The car is equipped with a five-cylinder 2.1 liter turbo engine producing 200 hp and 285 Nm of torque, that enable it to accelerate to 100 km/h from a standstill in 7.1 seconds, having a top speed of 220 km/h. The car will be auctioned by Silverstone Auctions and its price is expected to reach between €28.500 and €34.800.
