Fifty years after the factory closed, the Belgian motorcycle manufacturer Sarolea is regenerated and presents an electric Superbike, aiming at the Isle of Man TT Zero 2014!

Sarolea started in 1850 as a manufacturer of firearms and bicycles before turning to motorcycles. Now, more than 50 years after the closure of the factory, they presented an unlikely electric motorcycle, with impressive performance and context.

The Sarolea SP7 has a frame and carbon fiber swingarm, a weight of 200 kg, an 180 hp motor and 402 Nm of torque! The Company says that the S7 can do the 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and that is has a top speed of 250 km/h. Note that the bike does NOT have clutch. Furthermore it features a system for recovering energy from braking.

The Belgians announced their collaboration with Bridgestone, during the first official presentation of the motorcycle on April 26 at, the Mettet track in Belgium. Bridgestone will help the electrical effort of Sarolea, with Battlax V02 racing slick tires.

The racing program of the impressive SP7 for 2014 includes the TT Zero race, the Isle of Man TT, the World Cup and the FIM eRoadRacing. The rider of the SP7 for the Isle of Man TT Zero will be Robert Wilson, and the bike will run with the number 7. Wilson has five finishes in the Top-20, in his three-year career, including a 13th position in the Supersport race at IOMTT 2012. Thijs De Ridder will be the rider of the team at the World Cup eRoadRacing.
