Toyota has developed a new software for crash test dummies. This is the fifth edition of the Total Human Model for Safety and it has the ability to simulate many characteristics of the parts of the human body, thereby allowing researchers to analyze bone fractures, wounds on the body and ligaments as well as other injuries that can occur during a collision.
The program is able to simulate either a relaxed or braced posture, with Toyota supporting that the software contributes to a more accurate study of the effectiveness of seat belts, airbags and other passive and active safety systems.
