Volvo has started the construction of its first factory in the US in Berkeley South Carolina. The plant will cost the company about $500 million and when it will be completed, it will undertake the production of the new S60/V60 and a new model that will be announced later.
The maximum production capacity of the plant will be 100,000 cars and as announced by Volvo, they will employ up to 2,000 people with prospects for another 2,000 in the future. Volvo, also announced that the development of the new S60/V60 has already started with the models to be based on the SPA platform and to be presented around 2018.
