GM is another American automaker that is investing in Mexico. Specifically GM will invest $800 million to build a factory in the state of San Luis Potosi, which together with another GM plant in Mexico will take over the production of the new Chevrolet Equinox.
Until today GM has announced that the new Equinox will be built at its plant in Canada and two other factories, without naming them. The new Equinox will be offered with a new 1.6-liter diesel engine producing 136 hp with 320 Nm torque, a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine delivering 152 hp with 353 Nm of torque and another gasoline engine with 170 hp and 275 Nm of torque. The power will be transferred to the front or all wheels through manual and automatic transmissions.
