This is the new hybrid racecar of Toyota, which will race against the Audi R18 e-tron quattro and the Porsche 919 Hybrid at this year’s 24 hour endurance race in Le Mans, and the World Endurance Championship (WEC) of FIA.

It is the successor to the TS030 Hybrid and compared to it, the big change is that it is four-wheel drive, just like the Audi R18.On the back there is a V8 3,7 liter naturally aspirated engine producing 520 hp with two electric motors to adding an additional 480 hp, thus bringing the total horsepower at 1,000 hp.

At the front axle there is an AISIN motor, while at the rear a motor of DENSO. Due to changes in regulations, the TS040 Hybrid is 10 cm narrower than its predecessor and consumes 25% less fuel.

Toyota will bring two cars in the WEC. The first will be driven by Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima while the second, by Anthony Davidson, Sebastien Buemi and Stephane Sarrazin. Test Driver and substitute is Mike Conway.
