The McLaren F1 may be 20 years old, but it is a highly sought after “collector’s item”. Prices of legendary British sports car have rocketed and yesterday, there was an announcement that the above red F1 sold for £6 million or about €7.5 million.
It is the F1 with chassis number # 28 and was the gift of the McLaren to the racing driver Michael Andretti. That after some time, he sold it to a Japanese collector, and then the car changed hands two more times, this time in California, USA. Now the car turns in Europe and in Britain, the name of the new owner was not announced. It is one of the two F1s built by McLaren, with the signing of Andretti still to be located in the driver’s sun visor .
