BMW had presentated a prototype of the Roadster version of the i8 at the Beijing auto salon in 2012. From then they did not release any official communication and the production of the BMW i8 Roadster was postponed. After several delays, the CEO of BMW, Harald Krueger, confirmed that the BMW i8 Roadster will be added to the range of the Bavarian company in 2018.
