The car is available in two versions, the E63 and the E63S that are equipped with a 4.0 liter V8 engine with twin-scroll turbochargers, that delivers 571 hp with 750 Nm of torque for the E63 and 612 hp with 850 Nm of torque for the E63S. The engine is combined with a new 9-speed automatic AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT transmission, with the power going to all four wheels. The car is able to do the 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, with its top speed being electronically limited to 250 km/h or 300 km/h with the AMG Driver’s package.
For the first time in the E63, Mercedes has placed a Drift Mode, in which the four-wheel drive can send 100% of the engine’s torque to the rear axle. In E63 S the Drift Mode is activated when the car is in Race position, the ESP is off and the transmission is in manual mode. In this way, the power is transmitted to the rear axle and remains there until the driver closes the Drift Mode.
According to Mercedes the car consumes 9.2 liters/100 km and emits 203-209 gr/ km of CO2. For maximum economy the driver can deactivate some of the cylinders.
The car has an aggressive body kit consisting of new bumpers, side skirts, wide fenders, a discreet spoiler, a diffuser, new alloy wheels, bigger brakes, a lower ground clearance and quad exhaust tailpipes. The interior is luxurious, it has high quality materials and sporty details of AMG.
The debut of the E63 AMG will be made at the Los Angeles auto show in November, with the car going on sale worldwide from the beginning of 2017, with its release in the US to start in the summer of 2017.
