Nürburgring has prohibited timed laps, with the current fastest record clocked by a production car, being six minutes and 57 seconds set by the Porsche 918 in 2013.

Speed limits have been imposed on some parts of the Nordschleife as a result of a fatal accident occurred in March during an endurance race, when a Nissan GT-R driven by Jann Mardenborough took off on a curb killing a spectator sitting in the stands.
After the tragic accident of 28 March 2015, the German Motorsport Association (DMSB) has introduced speed limits for racing in the Nurburgring. We have decided to extend these speed limits to other activities of the Nordschleife, which is also the reason why the time recording units are not currently permitted in the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
