Volkswagen is testing the Tiguan R at Nurburgring these days. Rumors say that the car will be equipped with the five-cylinder 2.5-liter TFSI from the Audi RS3 and the TT RS.

The car has a sporty body kit, with a front bumper that has larger vents, while at the rear it has two exhausts tailpipes. Clearly the dimensions of the wheels and brakes are different of those of the conventional version. The Tiguan R will be the main competitor of the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 and the Audi RS Q3.

However all of the above are rumors, with Volkswagen to not announce anything officially, even the very existence of the Tiguan R, let alone the details of the engine. The same rumors say also that the model may be presented at the Geneva auto show in the spring of 2018.
