The BMW Z2 will be the car that will replaced the Z3. It will be a front wheel drive car and it will be based on the UKL platform, upon which are constructed the new MINI Cooper, the 2-Series Active Tourer, and the X1 and X2.

It is expected to come on the market either in late 2016 or early 2017, it will feature a soft cloth folding roof. It will weigh less than 1,150 kilos, about 350 kilos less than the Z4 sDrive28i.
From an engineering point of view iut will be available with both a1.5 liter three-cylinder turbo and a 2.0 liter turbo engine. The Z2 will be available in several versions (16i, 20i and 28i) with performance ranging from 163 hp to 272 hp. There will be an M version which will be four-wheel drive, it will be equipped with the 2.0 – liter turbo engine which will produce more than 300 hp. Also there will be a diesel version, which will be equipped with a three-cylinder diesel engine which emits less than 100 g/km CO2.
