The project manager of Mazda MX-5, Nobuhiro Yamamoto, speaking to Top Gear during the Goodwood Festival of Speed has revealed that the car will not be released in a high-performance version.
A high-performance MX-5 will be expensive and that will defeat one of the main objectives of the car, which is to make the Roadster affordable.

When he was asked if there was a chance to for the car to be available with a turbo engine, Yamamoto replied that they have never thought of such a solution, because the atmospheric engines are simply good, especially for this kind of car.
