At the 2005 Tokyo auto show, Volkswagen presented the EcoRacer Concept. The car was equipped with a 1.5 liter engine producing 136 hp at 4,000 rpm with 250 Nm of torque at 1,900 rpm, combined with a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission that enabled it to do the 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and to have a top speed of 230 km/h, with its average fuel consumption being 3.4 liters/100 km.
