Mitsubishi has already confirmed that the replacement of the Lancer Evo will be a crossover. Rumors say that the crossover will be based on the second generation of the ASX.

On the other hand, the CEO of the Japanese company, Tetsuro Aikawa, revealed that his company wants to launch the Evo version of ASX will be equipped wiht plug-in hybrid technology.
The next generation of ASX will borrows elements from the XR-PHEV II concept, which was presented in Geneva, with the production version of the model expected to be presented in 2016.
