The Plymouth Superbird is a rare vehicle, because of its special design and its very big spoiler, but the car in the main picture is even more rare, since it was in possession of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of US and it was used in order to measure emissions from airplanes, that were taking off!

To achieve this goal, it was equipped with a special measuring equipment of emissions from Nichels Engineering. Also, it was the only car, able to withstand the airplanes take-off speed, which was about 160 km/h, because of its aerodynamic shape.

Of course, an aerodynamic shape, would not be enough without the necessary power. The car was equipped with a 7,2-liter HEMI V8 engine producing 375 hp at 4,700 rpm, that enabled it to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.5 seconds.

The car was auctioned for $500 in 1979, passing in the possession of a high school teacher who removed the special equipment of the vehicle. After keeping it for 25 years, he sold it in 2005, restoring it and equipping it again with the specific pollutant measuring equipment.

Now the car will be auctioned by Barrett-Jackson, in Las Vegas, this October and it is expected to reach even seven-digit number.
