Acura presented the new 2015 Acura TLX concept at Detroit. The produciton of the TSX will stop later in 2014, the TLX concept gives us an idea of how the replacement of the TSX will look like. The prorotype is 96.5mm shorter than the current TL but has exactly the same wheelbase (2.776mm).
Due to the smaller length, the model has a much more dynamic and “sport” design in comparison to the design of the current TL. On the other hand , the identical wheelbase ensures that the seating space for the passengers will not be reduced. The Acura TLX concept features Jewel Eye LED lights of Acura and 20 inch alloy wheels with tires measuring 265/35 .
Acura says the production model will be offered with two engines. A new 2.4 -liter four-cylinder that will be combined with a new 8- speed automatic dual-clutch transmission with torque converter and a V6 3.5 -liter that will be combined with a new 9- speed automatic transmission. The power will be send to the front wheels while only with the V6, the new SH-AWD system of Acura can be chosen. This system has a different torque vectoring system, being 25 % lighter than the one that it replaces. In front wheel drive versions, the car has what the company calls Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) offering dynamic and independent monitoring of the toe on both drive wheels.
As the Acura addressed primarily in the U.S. , the TLX concept is designed in the company’s design studio in Los Angeles and when it will finally going into production, it will be built at the Acura factory in Ohio. The production model will be unveiled at the Chicago Motor Show in February or at the New York Auto Show in April.
