2015 Audi TT Roadster

Audi presented the TT Roadster that will debut at the Paris exhibition next week. The convertible TT is available in a simple (TT) and a quick TT-S version, it has a soft electric retractable roof weighing 39 kilograms (3 kilograms less than the previous generation) with anti roll bars. The roof can close in 10 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/hour.

The car features matrix LED lights front and LED lights at the rear. It has a new hexagonal chrome grille and large intakes for air, thus creating a very aggressive look. The covers of the mirrors, the diffuser and the fuel cap are painted in silver, while at the it has four large exhaust tailpipes at the TT-S version and dual tailpipes in the standard version. The optional S-Line package features a more aggressive body kit, more pronounced grille, diffuser, 18 inch wheels and lower ground clearance by 10 mm, with the Audi logo being transferred onto the hood and the roof having a sharper angled design.

Its length is 4,177 meters, 21 mm shorter than its predecessor, but the wheelbase has increased by 37 mm (2.505 mm in total). It has a width of 1.832 mm and 1.355 mm height. It has an electronically controlled spoiler, which extends when the car goes over 120 km/h, thus improving the vertical wind generated power. The aerodynamic coefficient of the car amounts to 0,30 Cd. Compared with the coupe version, it has changes on the front pillars and in several parts of the chassis, so as to keep the high torsional rigidity of the frame.

The new TT is based on the MQB platform of the VW Group. The chassis weighs 17% less compared to the Audi Space Frame (ASF) of the second generation. It is made of steel and aluminum, the doors, hood and trunk are also made ​​from lightweight metal. It features a more rigid chassis and a whole TT with a 2.0 liter TFSI weighs 1,320 kilos and has 280 liters of luggage space.

It has McPherson front suspension and multi (four) back links. The TT-S has 10 mm lower ground clearance. It will be available with a range of available wheels measuring from 17 to 20 inches. It brakes with disc brakes on all four wheels, with the front being ventilated, with the TT-S version having 338 mm disc diameter.

Mechanical it will be available with two TFSI engines and a TDI, all combined with a Start/Stop system as standard. The 2.0 liter TFSI engine produces 230 hp and 370 Nm of torque, with the engine of the TT-S producing 310 hp with 380 Nm of torque. There is also a two liter TDI with 184 hp and 380 Nm of torque. The engines are combined with a six-speed manual and a 7-speed S-Tronic  gearbox sending power to the front or all four wheels, the Audi drive select system is standard on the TTS Roadster and in the extra equipment in the other two (engines). The TT-S, features as a standard the Audi magnetic suspension.

The interior of the car shows us the new design philosophy of Audi, featuring a fully digital instrument panel in the production model. With it the car displays all the information needed by the driver, which means that there is no need for the main screen on the dashboard. This option gave the Audi designers freedom for a simple dashboard with clean lines.

The new TT can carry 2 + 2 people and has five ROUND airways, with the three main ones having built-in air conditioning. In terms of sound insulation, the noise has been reduced by 6 dB compared with its predecessor.

The instrument panel consists of a 3D TFT 12,3 inch screen which has an Nvidia Tegra 30 processor and has two modes. In the classical view, the speedometer and tachometer are in the foreground, while with the infotainment mode, the instruments are smaller, with the space created to offer plenty of display space for functions such as map navigation.

The new TT is equipped with the new infotainment system. The Audi MMI Infotainment, that features a redesigned menu, better search functionality and improved voice control. Audi has also improved the handling of the rotary selector, with the touchpad being able to supports gestures, providing a smartphone-like experience.

2015 Audi TT Roadster

In Germany, sales of the new TT Roadster will begin immediately after the exhibition in Paris in October, with those of the TT-S Roadster to follow in early 2015. The basic price of the 2.0 TFSI is €37.900, having extensive standard equipment, which includes xenon headlights, air conditioning and MMI radio.
