Mercedes-Benz, after a small teaser, revealed in all its glory, the 2015 CLS facelift. The feature of the car that stands out the most, is without doubt the addition of the Multibeam LED. These have 24 LEDs which are regulated independently of one another up to 100 times a second thanks to a camera and 4 control units.

The system has the ability to detect traffic coming from the opposite direction and automatically adjusts the beams of light so that they do not bother the vehicle coming from the opposite side. In addition, lights can detect upcoming turns and illuminate the street for the vehicle, while the navigation system detects intersections and roundabouts and changes the way in which the LEDs illuminate the road for optimum visibility.
The CLS facelift will be available with a new four-cylinder turbo diesel with a capacity of 2.1 liters that delivers 170 hp and 400 Nm of torque for the CLS 220 BlueTEC and 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque for the CLS 250 BlueTEC. Also a new diesel will be added to the range of available engines and it will be a three-liter V6 for the CLS 350 BlueTEC producing 258 hp and 620 Nm of torque.

Regarding petrol engines, the CLS 350 CGI replaced by the CLS 400 which will be equipped with a twin-turbo V6 3.5 liter producing 333 hp and 480 Nm torque (+26 and +110 Nm hp compared to its predecessor). The CLS 500 will produce 408 HP and 600 Nm of torque while at the top, there will be the AMG versions of the CLS and the CLS Shooting Brake, being equipped with a twin-turbo V8 5.5 liter engine producing 557 hp and 720 Nm of torque, or 585 hp and 800 Nm torque at the S-Model.
Mercedes will equip the CLS facelift with a 9-speed automatic transmission with a hydrodynamic torque converter in the premium segment. The gearbox will be available in the CLS 220 BlueTEC, CLS 250 BlueTEC, CLS 350 BlueTEC and CLS 500. This promises to further reduce fuel consumption, enhancing comfort and flexibility.

The design changes are quite limited. Remarkable are slightly larger vents in the front bumper, new grille and darker crystals in the rear light clusters. The interior features a new 8-inch screen, a new three-spoke steering wheel and a few more minor changes.
