Kia presented at Frankfurt the Niro Concept, a prototype that shows how the B segment crossover of the Koreans will look like which will be placed opposite the Nissan Juke.
Designed by Gregory Guillaume, head of Kia’s designers in Europe ( based in Frankfurt ) the prototype features LED lights corresponding to the shape of those used in the cee’d/pro_cee’d GT, pronounced bonnet , doors that open upwards , large domes, decorative chrome and double exhaust tailpipes . Is painted in a gray color , with green details.
Designed exclusively for the European market , the Niro Concept features a minimalist 2 +2 interior with minimal stiches and switches while the steering wheel with the below piece paddles, gives it a more sport tone . In the center of the dashboard there is a large screen . The rear seat backrests can be folded down in proportion 50:50 in order to increase the luggage space available .
It is equipped with a 1.6 liter turbo engine producing 160 hp which sends the power to the front axle through a double clutch 7-speed gearbox , while an electric motor of 33 kW (45 hp ) drives the rear wheels with batteries to charge during braking.
It has a length of 4.185 mm, width of 1.850 mm, height of 1.558 mm and a 2.590 mm wheelbase . The rims are 20 inches with tires having dimensions 225/40.
