This is the new race car of Lada for the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). The racing car is based on the Lada Vesta WTCC concept, replacing the Lada Granta and last week it started an intensive test program for this year’s championship.
All three drivers of the Russian manufacturer Rob Huff, James Thompson and Mikhail Kozlovskiy reached the tested the car at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, France, with the first round of the WTCC being in Argentina (6 -8 March). The car is equipped with an engine producing 380 hp, manufactured by Oreca, with Victor Shapovalov, team leader of Lada Sport Rosneft declaring:
The new car fully meets our expectations as it develops higher speeds in a straight line, it has a greater cornering stability and much improved aerodynamics. Of course, the team has a lot of work ahead – this is a completely new model that was built from scratch and therefore we need to do even more testing.
