BMW in Geneva presented the M4 Safety Car, the new safety car of MotoGP. The car compared to the previous year has a new liquid-cooled system, which according to the engineers of the M division not only increases the horsepower, but also reduces the consumption.

This system reduces the temperature of the combustion air. Consequently, this creates a more efficient combustion process and at the same time it reduces the combustion temperature.

The required water is stored in a tank of 5 liters, insulated against frost, located in the luggage compartment of the M4 with the water pump, sensors and valves controlled by the electronic engine. The pump delivers the water to the injector at a 10 bar pressure, while the volume of water supplied depends on the load, engine speed and temperature, in order to provide optimum water consumption.

BMW says that the water tank must be refilled before any action on the track, while in normal driving conditions on public roads estimate it needs to be replenished once every five stops to refuel, no additional maintenance is required. Finally, the German company says that the aforementioned system will soon be available at the production model.
