The Mercedes-Benz Classic department has restored the only 540K Streamliner. Almost every part of the car was no longer available, and every detail had to be constructed individually or identified in the collection of Mercedes-Benz Classic.

The Mercedes-Benz 540 K Streamliner was constructed to participate in the race from Berlin to Rome and it had a lightweight aluminum chassis, developed in a wind tunnel. It is equipped with a 5.4-liter eight-cylinder in-line turbocharged engine producing 180 hp, while it was based on the chassis of the standard production model. Unfortunately, it never managed to participate in a race, because of the Second World War.
