In 1989 the Dodge Viper VM-01 was presented at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The car was the concept on which the first generation of the Dodge Viper was based on. Originally the car was planned to be launched with a V10, but in 1989 it was launched with a 5.7 liter V8 that produced approximately 230 hp at 3800 rpm.
