Mercedes-Benz has announced that the new E-Class, became the first production car that got authorized to make autonomous development tests in Nevada.
According to Mercedes, cars that have gotten the permission until now, carry several modifications on them, as they are equipped with additional sensors, modified steering and special software. The E-Class does not need major changes, since the only changes required are some minor changes to the Drive Pilot system. Mercedes will begin testing with three E-Class, to collect necessary data, which will be used to further develop the autonomous driving technology, with the company presenting at CES the interior of the new E-Class.
