The renewed Colorado is now available with a brand new V6 petrol engine, which is combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 3.6-liter engine now has an improved direct injection and for the first time a cylinder deactivation system (Active Fuel Management), which deactivates two cylinders to improve fuel economy. The result is that it delivers 308 hp at 6,800 rpm with 373 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
The engine is combined with the 8-speed Hydra-Matic 8L45 transmission, developed by GM, which is practically the same size as the previous six-speed 6L80, that it is replacing.
