DC Design has announced its plans to build a new factory in India for manufacturing the Avanti.
The company’s founder, Dilip Chhabria, speaking at the Economic Times of India, said that a new manufacturing facility will be built next year in the city Sanand, Ahmedabad community in Gujarat state of India. The annual production of the factory will be 3,500 cars and 1,000 of these will be existing models of DC Design and the rest will be the Avanti or the new SUV to be unveiled sometime in 2014.
The Indian supercar features an aluminum chassis with polyester body and it is equipped with a 4-cylinder turbo engine from Ford producing 268 horsepower. A V6 turbo Honda engine that delivers 406 horsepower will also be available. The Avanti weighs 1,560 kg and it completes the 0-100 km/h in less than 7 seconds. The power is transferred to the rear wheels through a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with the original price listed at 30 lakh rupees ($57,000).
