This is the European version of the Ford EcoSport that will premiere in March in Geneva. The EcoSport is based on the platform of the Fiesta, has a length of 4,24 m and will be manufactured in Brazil. It is a global model, which means it will have the same design for all markets, with minimal variations in materials and drive quality.
Ford will take advantage of the presence of the award winning 1.0 EcoBoost engine, equipping it in the small SUV. The engine will produce 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque, just as it happens in the case of the Ford B-MAX. The 3 cylinder turbo engine will be combined with the 5-speed manual transmission and 6-speed automatic PowerShift, dual clutch gearbox. EcoBoost is expected to have an average consumption of 5 lt/100 km. It will also be available with a diesel 1.5 Duratorq TDCI (for front-wheel drive version) and the atmospheric 1.6 petrol with 115 PS.
It will be manufactured in China, India, Thailand and South America and will be sold in 100 countries worldwide.The launch of EcoSport in Europe is expected in late 2013. More details will be made known at Geneva.
