The VW Golf Variant was presentedat Geneva. The wagon version of the new VW Golf has roof rails and it’s styling has no significant changes compared with the hatchback version. The biggest change is that the luggage space has increased significantly, reaching 605 liters, which by folding the rear seats reaches 1,620 liters. The overall length of the vehicle has increased by 307 mm (4.562 mm length), in comparison to the five door Golf hatchback. It is 105 kg lighter than the previous generation and has a longer wheelbase of 2.636 mm (2.578 mm in the previous generation).
The Golf VII Estate will be equipped with the same TSI (producing 85, 105, 90, 122 and 140 hp) and TDI engines (producing 105, 110 and 150 hp) as the hatchback version of the Golf which will be combined with a Start/Stop system and DSG 6 and 7 speed automatic transmission . Also it will be avialable in a four wheel drive version called 4MOTION.
The most economical version, the Variant BlueMotion will be equipped with a 1.6 liter TDI 110 hp engine with an average fuel consumption of just 3.3 l/100 km and 87 g/km of CO2 emmisions. Among the engines, there will be a TGI BlueMotion version that consumes natural gas having an average consumption of 3.4 kg/100 km and a 1,360 km range !
