Mercedes officially unveiled the new generation of the C-Class which starts today its commercial course with it’s main features being reduced weight , larger dimensions , more efficient engines and an elegant design.
The C-Class W205 has a length of 4.686 mm (+95 mm in relation to the outgoing generation), a width of 1.810 mm (+40 mm) and a height of 1.442 mm. The wheelbase has grown by 80 mm reaching 2.840 mm, with the luggage space reaching 480 liters. With the increased dimensions of the Mercedes-Benz wanting to make a clear differentiation of the new C-Class in relation to the CLA.
The external design is modern and borrows many elements from both the revamped E-Class and the S-Class. The design of the interior follows the design philosophy of recent German car company, with the COMAND screen standing out, available in 7 ” and 8.4 ” , the latter being accompanied by a touch pad and head-up display.
The airways are circular with the air conditioning system using data from the GPS, so it automatically closes the flaps of air recycling when the car enters a tunnel , to avoid bringing fumes into the cabin. Also the passenger seat has a sensor that turns off the air bag, when a child car seat clicks on it . It also features a three-spoke steering wheel , analog clock , new instrument panel , recessed lighting , wood , gloss black and aluminium investment.

It was built on the all-new rear-wheel drive platform MRA of Mercedes. It weighs 100 kilos less than the previous generation and the engines to consume 20% less fuel, this is achieved by improved aerodynamics , in which Mercedes-Benz has given much attention.
The new C-Class has an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.24 Cd on the C 220 BlueTEC ECO version. It is the first car in its class equipped with a DIRECT CONTROL air suspension with three modes : comfort, comfort with sporty features and sports , with the last setting to reduce the ground clearance by 15 mm. At the additional equipment and it includes the automated AIRMATIC air suspension which has five settings “Comfort”, “ECO”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual”. The structure is made of 48% aluminum, with the front suspension 4 having links and the rear one having five .
In terms of engines. Under the long bonnet , initially the new C-Class will be available with three engine sets, two petrol and one diesel .

The C180 version is equipped with a 1.6 liter turbo petrol engine producing 156 hp with 250 Nm of torque, this engine helps the
C-Class to accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds , with an average fuel consumption of 5 liters/100 km and 116 g/km emission of CO2.
The C200 version is equipped with a 2.0 – liter turbo gasoline engine producing 184 hp with 300 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h comes in 7.5 seconds , with an average fuel consumption of 5.3 liters/100 km and 123 g/km emissions of CO2,
Finally the C220 BlueTEC is equipped with a 2.2 -liter diesel engine producing 170 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h comes in 8.1 seconds , with an average fuel consumption of 4 liters/100 km and 103 g/km emission of CO2.

Later will a 1.6 liter petrol engine will be added to the range, producing 115 hp and 280 Nm of torque and 136 hp with 320 Nm of torque. Also, the 2.2 -liter diesel engine will be available in a version with 115 , 204 and 170 hp ( version BlueEFFICIENCY).
The 2.0 -liter petrol engine will produce up to 238 hp and the hybrid C300 BlueTEC HYBRID version will combine the 2.2 -liter diesel engine producing 204 hp with an electric motor 20 kW (27 hp ) , offering an average fuel consumption of 3.9 liters/100 km.
All engines will be mated to either a new 6 – speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission 7G-TRONIC PLUS. In additional equipment found wheel drive 4MATIC and a plethora of security systems among which there are the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and Stop & Go Pilot, PRE-SAFE Brake, Brake Assist PLUS, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Parking Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and Traffic Sign Assist with Wrong-Way Alert.

The new Mercedes C-Class will make it’s début at the Detroit autoshow in January 2014 with the C180 costing from 33,558 euros in Germany , the C200 will start from 36.414 euros and the C220 BlueTEC from 38,675 euros.
